The sound of the waves hitting the shore and the warmth of the sun shining down on you, sand in your toes, the salty water in your hair, what could make this day more perfect? A good book. A beach is the perfect escape from reality and so is a book, and adding them together is the perfect recipe for a day away from the “real” world and into a new and relaxing one which will help the sun melt away all your stresses and anxiety. Today I am going to share with you my favorite books for Summer 2017 which will help you get off social media and enter a fun, well written book that will put your mind at ease and help inspire you and maybe even give you a nice laugh this Summer.
“Eat Pretty: Nutrition for Beauty, Inside and Out” By Jolene Hart
“Eat Pretty” is the perfect book to read this summer, especially if you are interested in living a healthy and beautiful life! This book gives you all the basics you need to know about eating “pretty” and how food can help you achieve your beauty goals. From long, luscious hair to clear, glowing skin, Jolene Hart shares her knowledge of the best and most delicious foods to eat for overall health and beauty. “Eat Pretty” is a quick and easy read that is also knowledgeable, which is great for the days of laying in the sun. Learning how the fresh strawberries you recently picked are filled with nutritious vitamins that are helping your beauty from the inside out is something I always love hearing! If you are interested in learning how adding certain foods to your diet can help you become your natural beautiful self rather than spending a fortune on products which just cover up “problems” and don’t actually fix them, then I recommend you add this book to your Summer reading list!
“Sounds Like Me: My Life (So Far) in Song” By Sara Bareilles
In this lovely collection of essays, Sara Bareielles shares her process of song writing with us and even the heartbreaking and emotional stories which have influenced some of her greatest songs. She also shares with us how even a “perfect” celebrity goes through the same struggles as “normal” people do and how she manages to stay true to herself through those times. Sara’s writing in this book is beautiful, raw, and inspiring, exactly like her wonderful songs. She truly has a talent for writing, both songs and books, that make you feel less alone in the struggles you are facing in your own life. Even if you aren’t a huge Sara Bareilles fan, this book is the perfect Summer read for anyone who is looking for an inspiring book to enjoy while relaxing by the pool.
“How To Be Parisian Wherever You Are: Love, Style and Bad Habits” By Anne Berest, Audrey Diwan, Caroline de Maigret, and Sophie Mas
Looking for a ridiculously fun summer read to help inspire your inner Parisian to burst out? Then I highly recommend adding “How To Be Parisian Wherever You Are: Love, Style and Bad Habits”. Written by four Parisian women, this book puts an over the top spin on how the French woman actually acts during every day events while giving you a good laugh, making it the perfect book to slip into your beach bag. While touching base on topics such as style, beauty, and culture, these women’s views are too fun and sassy making it hard not to laugh. While this book doesn’t have a real structure, most of it is short little snippets, it is still offers fun insight and stories making it a great read to boost your mood and to feed your inner Parisian.
“Fangirl” By Rainbow Rowell
“Fangirl” is a wonderful story of a girl, Cath, whose life has been surrounded by her favorite book series “Simon Snow”. This book series was there for Cath, and her sister Wren, when no one else was for them when their mom left them when they were kids. Cath’s has experienced much change in her life, it’s mainly been surrounded with this book series (and her sister) until it’s time for college. Her sister has grown out of her “Simon Snow fan” phase, and doesn’t want to be roommates with Cath at college, basically having everything that has ever left Cath feeling comfortable taken from her. Trying to hold onto her past life of her sister and their love for “Simon Snow” and trying to figure out how to incorporate her new one of be on her own, dealing with a strange roommate and college, and being 100% out of her comfort zone, “Fangirl” is an inspiring story for anyone who is struggling with change in their life. A lovely, fun, and light hearted story, perfect for a sunny summer day.
While you are packing up your bag for a day of fun at the beach, don’t forget to grab one of these wonderful books. Each of them has their own different, unique story but they are all beautifully written and perfect for the Summer! I always love having a good book to read while I am catching some rays and enjoying the summer heat and each of these books are perfect for that occasion!
